If you are usually glued to social media like I am, you might have noticed I have been posting less frequently over the last couple of days. Where I have been typically posting on a daily basis, over the last week or so I have just about managed four posts. You might expect lockdown is partly to blame for this. As we are unable to travel or visit family or have days out, a large part of my posting content is absent, but for once I cannot blame lockdown for my lack of online engagement.
In truth, it is something much more exciting. I have not had time to post in the last week because I am editing a new book!
Yes, you read that right, I have a new book which is getting close to being publishable! Now this is not a new novel (though I do have two first drafts which are getting close), rather it is a collection of short stories and flash fiction. You have probably read some of the stories I have posted here over the last month, and my favourite pieces will make an appearance in the book, while for those who read this blog fastidiously, there will still be plenty of new material as well.
I will be announcing more about the book very soon (including the title and cover which I have already waiting to go, and if I do say so myself I am proud of this one!), in the meantime I might be a little quieter than usual. Spell check has taken over (again something readers of this blog will be pleased about…) and I am wanting to get this book read for publication as soon as possible.
Fortunately, I actually enjoy the editing process (at times more than the writing in the first place, deep down I am just a teacher wrapped in a psychiatrist) so it is keeping my attention. Best guess, the book will be out by the end of March, just in time for us to hopefully get back outside a little more together. Who knows, if we are lucky you could be reading my new book on the beach this summer!
