Last night ended up being a lateish one. I had remembered the Lyrid Meteor Shower was at its peak last night, and given the clear sky I could not resist spending some time outside to spot a shooting star or two. In the end it was two meteors and one stupid satellite from a certain billionaire who seems insistent of cluttering up the night sky. On balance, and given I live near a sizeable city, not a bad hour.
With the late night, it was a late morning, and quite a struggle to drag myself out of bed, but I was still at the computer by 9. The morning huddle has been moved to 10am every morning, so I had a chance to check my emails and make a call before we started.
The team, well those people being redeployed at least, were clearly feeling down today. People are due to move on Monday, and it appears they have had little information about where to go and what they will be doing. Of course these changes are happening in a rush and without precedent, but I think they all deserve a little better communication than they seem to have received, if only to allay their anxieties a little.
After the meeting I spent some time reviewing patients, before a few minutes in the garden with Sarah and a cheese sandwich for lunch.
I took my walk earlier than usual today as I was planning to go shopping at five. It was a quick, and very warm walk around the local neighbourhood, before I was back at the computer for a meeting reviewing our anxiety pathway. This was the second meeting during the pandemic on the same topic, and I still feel it is a little unnecessary, but we were told it had to be done, so it was. After this, I spent rest of the afternoon reading about ECT to refresh my memory before Friday. It has been four years since I last gave ECT, and although the principle is still clear, I have definitely lost some of the details.

At five I set off to the supermarket, and it appears last week was a bit of a fluke as this was the queue I found myself in. It moved fairly quickly, and once inside the store was calm and reasonably well stocked. Back home, and I rustled up smoky barbecue chicken fajitas which were quickly devoured by the pair of us. Tonight, I suspect the plan is for more TV, reading and browsing the internet before an early night to catch up on some sleep.
It’s nice to hear your shopping trip went smoothly! 🙃
